Meet Melissa, LPC Practicum Student & Trauma-Informed Counseling Intern in West Houston & Katy, TX.
Hi, I'm Melissa, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) practicum student at The Reclaimed Collective, serving clients in West Houston, Katy, and the surrounding areas. I believe one of the most powerful things we can offer another person is a safe, non-judgmental space to be themselves, to feel heard, understood simply, and accepted exactly as they are. As a counseling intern, I bring warmth, empathy, authenticity, curiosity, and a bit of humor into every session. Therapy can hold difficult conversations and moments of hope, connection, and laughter, where I believe both belong.
A Trauma-Informed Approach Shaped by Forensic Psychology
My background in forensic psychology gives me a unique lens on human behavior and the experiences that shape who we become. Working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and complex life circumstances has taught me to look beyond behavior to understand the person and the story underneath it. That foundation shapes my trauma-informed counseling approach today, especially when working with clients navigating trauma, difficult relationships, major life transitions, or seasons when life simply feels like too much.
Collaborative Counseling, Not a One-Size-Fits-All Approach
As an LPC practicum student, I take a collaborative, client-centered approach to therapy. I don't believe counseling means someone telling you how to live your life. Instead, I see it as a partnership where together we'll explore what you've experienced, identify patterns that may be holding you back, recognize the strengths you already carry, and build healthier paths forward.
You Don't Need to Have It All Figured Out
You don't have to walk into therapy with all the answers. Come exactly as you are. I genuinely love hearing people's stories, understanding what has shaped them, and helping them move toward more peace, purpose, and joy in their lives. Whether you're located in Katy, West Houston, or anywhere in Texas for virtual therapy- I prioritize access to care that works with your schedule.
Wherever you are right now, I'll meet you there, and I can't wait to hear your story.
